What is Envirokids?

Envirokids is a year-round programme run by Christchurch Envirohub Trust. Every week, we provide different environment themed activities for children. When possible, we host a group (or combination of groups) from our networks that specialise in working with children in the environment sector.

Environment-themed activities

Different environmental groups are hosted by Envirokids every Saturday, each with different environment-themed activities!

There is always a focus on fun!

Each Saturday session involves educational and fun, group-based activities for 6 – 13 year olds.

Record your own Envirokids journey!

Kids have the opportunity to collect stamps in a passbook and record their own Envirokids journey.

Design your own Envirokids gear!

Kids can bring along their own pre-loved items and turn them into creative Envirokids merchandise!

Where is Envirokids?

Envirokids is currently based in The Kiosk in the beautiful surrounds of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens (postcode Christchurch 8011).

The Kiosk is marked on the map, below, as Christchurch Envirohub. We share this venue with Friends of the Botanic Gardens and Canterbury Horticultural Society.

How do I get there?

  • If you arrive by bike, the best place to park up and lock up securely, is by the footbridge at the west end of the Armagh St. car park.

  • By public transport, the nearest bus stops are on Rolleston Ave. near Gloucester St., or Riccarton Ave. near the hospital.

  • If you arrive by a car, the best place to park is the Armagh St. car park.

What to Expect?

Envirokids

facilitator

A facilitator from Envirokids will be on site and available during every session. They will be there to welcome you, sign you in, and ensure any questions you have are answered.

Flexible

arrangement

While we encourage you to join us at the kiosk at the start of the session (10am), there is no obligation to stay until the end (1pm). Drop-in style attendance is possible depending on the group.

Wherever possible, sessions will be run by the organisation/s being hosted on that day. On occasion, the Envirokids facilitator will run the session.

Stay with Your Envirokids

Parents, guardians, or carers must remain on site with the children they are responsible for at all times. This includes sessions that are being run outside in the gardens.
