Profile
The Richmond Community Garden came together to re-establish the pre-earthquake vegetable garden next to Avebury House. With the dedication of our volunteers, the garden quickly grew and expanded to 3 acres of Red Zone land at 325 River Road and 46a Vogel Street. We are a transitional project on this land, providing a community space where people can connect, learn, and enjoy nature.
Our vision is to make this space a permanent and vital part of the Richmond community. We plan to:
Grow enough food to share with the community
Offer workshops on gardening, food preservation, and sustainability
Create a natural playground to complement the paddling pool and existing playground, providing a safe and social space for families
Expand our reach through collaborations across Riverlution Eco Park, supporting various social enterprises Riverlution is trialling, including Riverlution Café, Riverlution Precious Plastic, and Riverlution Eco Hub
Through these initiatives, we aim to nurture community connection, learning, and enjoyment of the outdoors, while showcasing how a collaborative, community-led approach can enhance the Richmond Red Zone.
